Welcome, spring! 🌸

In this month’s Bulletin, we highlight national nominations, community celebrations, local events and more.

As always, thank you for the work you do every day to make Village a trusted voice in the communities we serve.

Welcome to our Village

Welcome to our Village

This month, we had a number of Villagers step into new roles, including:

Village Media client services coordinator Jayda Avilla

Congratulations all 👏

Village racks up more national nominations 🏆

National Newspaper Awards

This year’s finalists for the prestigious National Newspaper Awards were recently announced and the list includes four of our own Village journalists.

Jessica Smith Cross, Charlie Pinkerton and Jack Hauen with The Trillium are nominated for the John Wesley Dafoe Award for Politics for their ongoing coverage of power and influence in Ontario politics.

And Jenny Lamothe with Sudbury.com is up for the Cora Hind Award for Local Reporting for exposing the plight of seniors left stranded in their homes by broken elevators — and the landlords and city officials who failed to do anything about it.

The winners will be announced on April 24. Good luck to our incredible journalists!

Our SPACES communities have been buzzing with activity lately!

Between SPACES officially launching in Midland and Flamborough, host-run events like the Spring into Focus photography event in Sault Ste. Marie and Taste the Good Life Vegan Workshop in Orillia, a coffee shop meet-up in Dundas, a magical book club launch and an interview with a Michelin-star chef, our SPACES team has been busy connecting people across our Village, both online and offline.

Meet Pumpkin 🎃

Friends with fur. A black cat named Pumpkin

She was recently rescued from the Hamilton SPCA. She's about 2 years old and has a unique "black smoke" coat, which means the fur is white underneath.

She loves to play with almost any toy and loves to snuggle with her humans.

Proud pet grandparent: Brenda Jefferies

See you in April!
